Sports

The sheer number of sports facilities and venues in Gostyń is testament to how important a role sports play in the town’s social life. Well aware of that, the municipality is devoted to further developing Gostyń’s sports infrastructure, which presently consists of such facilities as an indoor swimming pool, a modern bowling alley, a stadium, as well as tennis courts, sports halls, and multi-sport courts. The facilities are also used by sports teams and clubs, some of which have a long history and established traditions. The football club Kania Gostyń is one of the oldest among them and is known for its excellent cooperation with young people.

Local bowlers, young volleyball players and cyclists are not short of achievements. Boxing, karate, and other martial arts are also very popular sports disciplines in the area. Swimmers refine their skills at the indoor swimming pool, and hockey players practice at the local skating rink.

Gostyń is also the place where the careers of several famous sportspeople began. It was there that the football player Andrzej Juskowiak, who later won the title of top scorer during the Barcelona Olympics, scored his first goals. It was also in Gostyń that the racing driver Kuba Giermaziak made his first steps in motorsports.
